Last Updated: 8/19/2025

How to Import Pennsylvania Bureau Worksheet Data into Mod Advisor with WorkaroundPennsylvania experience mod worksheets often use unique formats that don’t align with automated import tools in Mod Advisor. This article outlines a reliable manual workaround to convert and import PA worksheets, including how to structure policy periods, extract claims data, and handle claim statuses.Step-by-Step Instructions
  1.  Prepare to copy and paste data by having both the worksheet open on your computer AND the Mod Advisor app; display them side by side.
2. Manually Create Policy Periods
  • While in the account you want to add this data for, identify all policy periods listed in the worksheet (e.g., 10/26/2020 to 12/2/2020).
  • In the policy tab, manually create each policy period, matching the start and end dates exactly.
  • Delete any default policy rows that don’t apply.
  • Ensure each policy period has the correct associated policy number.
3. Extract Payroll Data
  • Copy and paste all payroll data from the worksheet into the Payroll tab.  Make sure you are pasting the payroll into the correct policy period.
4. Extract Claims Data
  • Within the Pennsylvania worksheet, highlight OR take a screenshot and export the table as a PDF/image file.
  • Use a tool like ChatGPT (this is free, you do not have to sign up to use) or Excel OCR to convert the table into a structured Excel format.
  • In the Excel file:
    • Include Policy PeriodClass CodeExposureExpected Loss Rate, and Expected Losses.
    • Ensure columns are clearly labeled and values are formatted consistently.
4.  Export Claims Template from Mod Advisor
  • In Mod Advisor, go to the Claims section and click Export to download the claims template.
  • Use this template to structure the imported claims data properly.
5. Fill in Claims Data
  • From the worksheet, input for each claim:
    • Policy Period (Effective/Expiration Date)
    • Policy Number
    • Claim Number
    • Injury Code
    • Total Incurred Medical
    • Total Incurred Indemnity
    • Actual Loss
  • Paste all relevant values into the claims template.
  • Adjust formatting to match template structure.
6. Add Claim Status (Optional but Recommended)
  • Add a new column labeled Claim Status to the Excel file.
  • For each claim, indicate whether it is Open or Closed (This helps Mod Advisor process the claims accurately and display status in reports.)
7. Import the File
  • Save the Excel file with all completed data.
  • Return to Mod Advisor and click Import.
  • Select your file and proceed with the upload.
  • Upon successful import, you’ll see an Indicated Mod result in the top right hand corner of screen
IMPORTANT:  After importing, verify the following:
  • Expected Losses match those on the worksheet
  • Actual Losses also match
  • Claim statuses appear correctly (if added).
